Shoe shopping in Havana, Cuba

Havana is probably not the most likely destination you choose for shopping… but for sightseeing, drinking mojitos, smoking cigars and dancing salsa! But that might change soon! In 2011 Via Uno opened a branch in Habana Vieja… leaving all the ladies in awe, tourists and Cubans alike.

Via Uno sells the namesake brand from Brazil and boy oh boy, those shoes are hot! Bright colours, incredibly high heels, sexy sandals, but also comfortable ballet flats to walk around town.

The store is located close to Plaza de Armas, Calle Obispo and Calle O’Reilly. So you can squeeze in a visit in between museums (let’s say: Museo del Ron and Palacio de los Capitanes Generales).

Trust me, it’ll be worth it; the average price of a pair of shoes is around CUC 90 (in 2012 ± € 70 or $ 90). A whole lot of money for Cuban standards, but not for Europeans or Americans I would say. Now at least you know where to get your dancing shoes!
