Princess Diana, 20th anniversary of her death

August 31st 2017 marks the 20th anniversary of the death of Diana, Princess of Wales. I never met her, nor did I ever see her in real life, but she touched me and millions of others with her smile, kindness and incredibly big heart. May her legacy live on forever.

Seven year itch?

Seven year itch? Not for me and my blog! Today I'm celebrating the seven year anniversary of Tara's Dolce Vita and I can't believe how far I've come... A big thank you to my loved ones (you know who you are!) and of course to all of you for following and supporting me! Cheers, cin cin, santé, salud, proost.... to many more years to come.

Cruising with Club Med

Relaxing by the pool, cocktail in hand, meeting new people, exploring new places, sightseeing in charming old villages, shopping for cute souvenirs, eating fresh fruit, salad and grilled fish for lunch, with a sea view, watching dolphins swim by, waterskiing, spending long summer nights under the starry sky, dancing salsa, partying all night long… what more can you wish for on your summer holiday?

Exactly! My holiday ticked all the boxes, when I went cruising on one of the biggest (if not the biggest) sailingships in the world, the Club Med 2. It was a dream come true! Or actually, I have to admit I never really dreamed about going on a cruise. Like many people, I had my reservations (and maybe even some prejudices) about cruising. Boy, was I wrong!

There was a young crowd, who liked to be active during the day and party every night. There were great G.O’s (“gentils organisateurs”), in other words Club Med staff members, who went to great lengths to make sure you had a good time. They became like family.

We departed from Nice, France and sailed around the island of Corsica, stopping along the way. First stop was the small town of Calvi, second Bonifacio, which was mindblowing and last but not least, Portofino in Italy, before we returned to Nice. I absolutely loved all these ports of call! For those who know me that should come as no surprise, since I love boats, marinas, harbours and cities by the sea.

Every night there was a cocktail party with a different dress code, so I packed for a "45" theme (read more about it here: http://tarasdolcevita.blogspot.nl/2017/08/catch-of-day-club-med-t-shirt.html), a nautical theme, a white party and a gala night.
The stern of the ship was the place to be. Every afternoon after the guests had their last dip in the pool, the G.O.s decorated the whole area, turning it upside down and transforming it into a chic club.

I had the time of my life and could go on and on about it (and have hundreds of photos…), so I will be back soon with more stories about this amazing sailing cruise!

Catch of the Day... Club Med t-shirt

I'm so in love with this t-shirt... and with Club Med! Recently I went on a trip with Club Med and of course I had to bring back a souvenir (or two... or three...)! "I love 45" in fact stands for "I love Club Med".

You know why? When -the travel organisation- Club Med celebrated their 45th anniversary in 1995, they designed t-shirts flaunting 45; every resort had its own colours and the name of that specific resort on the back. The 45 t-shirts flew off the shelves!

However for Club Med's 50th anniversary in 2000... the t-shirts didn't sell very well at all. Apparently, people are visually more attracted by the numbers 45 than 50. Who knew?

From that year on Club Med decided that their signature t-shirts would have 45 on them. Since then they have become a collector's item, just like Hard Rock Café t-shirts or Starbucks coffee mugs.

Stay tuned for a new blog about my trip on board the Club Med cruise ship!
