People... at the Fuori Salone

At the Fuori Salone in Milan it was all about scarves! Sweet, tough, zig zag à la Missoni, with flowers or Keffiyeh style... it was the finishing touch to many outfits!

Wanna see more people at the Salone del Mobile 2011?

People... at the Salone del Mobile, part 2

Colours, colours, colours! That was key at the Salone del Mobile 2011. Whether ton-sur-ton or multicolour.... flowers, stripes or paisley patterns....there was no escape....there were colours everywhere!

Federea Milano, Italy

Federea Milano, a cute little store I came accross by accident during the Milan design week (better known as Salone del Mobile). During the Salone, the whole city is bursting with activities! Especially in Via Tortona, the street where this shop can be found.

Federea Milano sells all kinds of shoes: glitter ballet flats under their own label, striped booties by United Nude, high heels in candy colours, sneakers by Chipie, etc.

And... they sell absolutely adorable jewelry by Ineke Otte. Think plastic insects, pieces of fruit, supersize chains and more.

The funny thing was... the clientele was just as entertaining as the store itself! Next time you're in Milan and you're looking for something out of the ordinary, you should definitely pay Federea a visit!

Urban Jungle... Milan

While I was wandering through Milan, I came across these fun grafittis. I love the real plants right in the middle of the painted ones!

10 Corso Como, rooftop garden

Check out at this beautiful rooftop garden by 10 Corso Como! If you look around you, it's an urban jungle, with all the skyscrapers and construction works... but if you focus on the flowers, plants, art, statues and pottery... it's like a 'safe haven' or oasis. The perfect place to get away from it all. Too bad the weather wasn't very good when I was there, but still, I would really recommend it.

Salone del Mobile 2011... the highlights

Here are some highlights of the Salone del Mobile 2011. I absolutely loved the transparent furniture at the Kartell stand, as well as the big mask chairs (called Nemo) by Fabio Novembre for Driade!!! I think no one could resist sitting in them.

And of course the Missoni stand as pictured on my blog of April 17:  http://tarasdolcevita.blogspot.com/2011/04/missoni-at-salone-del-mobile.html

10 Corso Como, Milan, Italy

Those who've already been to Milan, will definitely know... but if you go to Milan for the first time... let me tell you: 10 Corso Como is the place to be!

10 Corso Como started off as a gallery in 1990 and is now a modern day 'department store'. The store by Carla Sozzani (sister of Franca Sozzani, editor-in-chief of Vogue Italia) sells everything you'll ever want.... from clothes to shoes, hats, fashion jewelry, bags.... from CDs (they have their own compilations) to books, beauty products, perfumes, tableware and on and on. Oh and what about those lovely scented candles by Diptyque, Astier de Villatte and L'Artisan parfumeur...?!

Brands include Prada, Martin Margiela, Roger Vivier, Comme des Garcons, Marni, Paul Smith, Lacoste, Borsalino, Freitag, Timberland (the famous boat shoes) and Fornasetti. But actually there's just too much to mention...

I could easily spend a whole day here! Especially in the book department or in the rooftop garden. But also in the café and restaurant, since the whole fashion scene comes here, as well as travelers 'in the know'. It's all about 'seeing and be seen'!

Before you leave, don't forget to buy one of those 10 Corso Como CDs. It will make you think back and smile every time you listen to it.
