Easter in Mals, Italy
While visiting the town of Mals in Val Venosta, Italy, people were decorating the streets for Easter (and they were very amused that I was taking pictures). How cute are these Easter bunnies and roosters that were put on almost every street corner?!

Easter preparations
This year I’m taking a different style approach to Easter. An exotic one to be precise. Maybe due to the weather (it's actually snowing as we speak); or maybe because there are so many cute “tropical” accessories for sale right now… either way, I long for the tropics, the Caribbean, La Dolce Vita...
So I opted for placemats in the shape of a palm tree leaf, plates with bamboo decorations, napkins with butterflies, multicoloured flowers and bling bling Easter eggs! Oh and sangria...

Easter Flowers!
Traditionally many people decorate their homes with yellow flowers, such as narcissus. Besides the obvious celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, Easter of course also represents spring, renewal and rebirth.

Atelier, Havana, Cuba
The surprise of getting there is almost as overwhelming as the entrance to La Guarida. I arrived by cab, at dusk, after heavy rain showers. Streets were wet and empty… and I really didn’t know where I would end up.
That feeling when you finally get out of the car and you see the villa where Atelier is located, is indescribable. The door swings open and there you are… in an oasis of tranquility, soft music, candlelight and gorgeous paintings on the wall!
The menu is handwritten every day, giving you that extra special feeling. (Although the reasons behind it are far more down-to-earth… not all ingredients are available on a regular basis in Cuba. Therefore chefs have to be very inventive!)
People who have visited Cuba before will know, the food in state-owned restaurants isn’t always that good (understatement). So finding a place like Atelier is a true blessing. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the dishes arrive… cheese, salmon, a huuuge portion of grilled vegetables… and it was al amazing! Not to mention the mouthwatering desserts and the wonderful wines.
On one hand, it was a pity that the weather was bad and we couldn’t have dinner outside on the rooftop, but on the other hand, it made the evening more intimate, since the atmosphere inside was magical. Next time I’m in Havana, I will definitely go back!
