Restaurante El Templete, Havana, Cuba

Restaurant El Templete is a very nice and fresh looking place in Habana Vieja, close to the harbour and the namesake temple
(marking the foundation of the city in 1519).

El Templete has a big terrace as well as inside rooms. The restaurant has a nautical theme and is decorated really well, creating a cosy atmosphere. But the most important thing is that they serve good food! And... thank God for their Ceasar Salad!

Really, you have no idea how much I missed salad -as in lettuce- in Havana. Of course I didn't complain, because a big part of the locals hardly ever have salad within reach. But then when you do find a restaurant that serves it.... wow!

Besides really good seafood and well grilled meat, you'll find nice veggies here, such as the green asparagus in the photo. And the best bread I had in Cuba. When I complimented them with it, they told me it was imported from Spain and then baked off there....
Funny, how the simplest things can make you so happy!

Dining at El Templete doesn't come cheap, but is definitely worth your money!
