Christmas Decor 2022

At Garden Centre De Bosrand in Wassenaar Christmas comes early this year. At the end of October De Bosrand opened their annual Christmas Show. Even though I have seen it many years in a row, they still managed to surprise me with their beautiful Christmas displays.

From over-the-top Christmas wreaths to huge and extravagant Christmas trees, from romantic dinner tables to gifts for kids (how about a moving and talking dinosaur?).... De Bosrand has it all.

The Christmas show is probably meant for, or at least aimed at children, but many adults, parents and grandparents go crazy as well when they see the overwhelming amount of decorated Christmas trees and cosy home decor.

The Christmas decor themes this year are: Bohemian Forest, Pretty Pink, Frozen Lake, Together again, So This Is Christmas, La Vie en Rose and Christmas Naturals. I love the Bohemian Forest theme with its forest animals, such as squirrels, deer, foxes and owls.

De Bosrand sells Christmas baubles from various brands, including Disney, Kurt S. Adler, Vondels Amsterdam and Decoris. No matter what your (home decor) style is, I'm sure you'll be inspired and will find something you like.

My Favourite Fall Photos

Fall, it's not my favourite season I have to admit... but once I let go of the end-of-summer depression and -just as important- it's not raining all the time, then I can actually love fall.
The trees changing colors, falling leaves, taking long walks through the woods, hunting for the perfect pumpkin at the pumkin patch, afternoons spent by the fire, eating all kinds of homemade soup... it's not so bad after all!

Here are some of my favourite fall photo's that I took over the years.

Fall at Duivenvoorde Castle

Duivenvoorde Castle is a beautiful estate located between The Hague and Leiden, in The Netherlands. The castle dates back to the thirteenth century. The current castle was built in 1631 and is used as a museum and event venue. Many, many years ago I was actually a bridesmaid at Duivenvoorde Castle!

You can visit the castle museum from thursday to sunday, from 11:00 a.m. to 04:00 p.m., but you can take a walk through the park every day of the week, all year long, from 08:00 a.m. until 07:30 p.m.

Duivenvoorde is one of my favourite places to go for a walk, any season of the year, but especially in the fall! Depending on the weather, you can find lots of mushrooms. Not to pick or eat but simply to admire. If you're lucky, you'll even spot some fly agarics (or fly amanitas).

There is also a bar/restaurant at the estate, called Hof van Duivenvoorde. It's the perfect spot for a cup of coffee or glass of (mulled) wine after a long walk through the park. On sunny days you can sit outside on the lovely terrace, or in the garden.

There is a parking lot for bicycles and cars; public transport stops nearby. (Buses 45 and 46 stop at Kniplaan, Voorschoten)

Children (and strollers) are welcome in the park, dogs and bycicles however are not, due to the vulnerable environment.
