Cookies!

Delicious homemade cookies, cakes and coffee, that's what Melly's Cookie Bar has got to offer. It's a cute little shop in the heart of Amsterdam, just around the corner from Dam Square. Whenever I walk by, I can't resist buying some of these goodies... yummy!

Shown here: the lemon-poppyseed cookies and their banana cake. The owner is Argentinian... so if you're a fan of Dulce de Leche, you know where to go!

Pastel-coloured Panama Hats

This summer Borsalino came up with a large selection of pastel-coloured Panama hats. As some of you may know, I'm a big fan of Panama hats, especially when they're made by Borsalino. Yet, the famous Italian brand still manages to surprise me! How? By splashing paint over them...

The first six hats shown here are from the spring summer 2013 men's collection, the next five from the women's collection. However... I want to have them all!!! I can already see myself wearing one, paired with my favourite bikini, sipping a cocktail on the beach...

Saturday afternoon Shopping Spree

Today I went shopping in Amsterdam with one of my best friends. Our first stop was Salon Heleen Hülsmann, then off to ByDanie Designer Vintage store, lunch in the sun, strolling down the best shopping street in town, Cornelis Schuytstraat.... and on and on!

Despite all the brightly coloured items we encountered... I ended up buying a little black dress by Diane von Furstenberg. It was of course at Salon Heleen Hülsmann, that I discovered this treasure. She has such an amazing collection of pre-owned designer pieces!

Another great shop is Menno Kroon... Amsterdam's best & most famous florist. Oh well florist doesn't really cover it; the store sells flowers next to chairs, fur pillows and throws, works of art, home decor, etc.

Toni&Guy Hair Meet Wardrobe event

Yesterday I attended a very nice event in Amsterdam, organized by hair styling brand Toni&Guy. (You know, just like the famous hair salon chain Toni&Guy). They presented their new product line, the Hair Meet Wardrobe collection. The name reveals the intentions: match your hairstyle to your fashion style!

The product line is divided into three different looks, Casual, Creative and Glamour (in some countries it also includes Classic). Toni&Guy's Global Hair Ambassador, Mark Hampton was present to explain what you can do to match your hair & wardrobe. And... he gave us all the juicy details on working backstage for the London Fashion Week, shooting editorials, etc. Stylist Renu Kashyap dressed the models with to-die-for clothes... that was no surprise; she's got great style!

The model in the kaki jacket was sporting a Casual style, like a model off-duty. The girl with the high bun and glitzy necklace was of course representing the Glamour look. And last but not least, the model wearing the pink top was the Creative type, with a touch of rock&roll.

Besides the presentation there was a DJ, prosecco and yummy snacks. Fish & chips and English pies, in honour of the British brand. However the British connection, my hair was done by an Italian guy!! (My destiny I would say). Thanks Federico, I felt like Anita Ekberg in La Dolce Vita. Mark bringing me a glass of bubbles just added to the experience... What a great party!
