Dressing up in Quarantine

We've been in quarantine for two months now… and I have to say, it has not been easy. But what pulls me through (among other things) is fashion! I have always loved fashion and dressing up, but now -even though I have nowhere to go- I like it even more.

Of course there are Zoom business meetings and Friday night quarantinis with the girls... and then there are fashion contests with specific dress codes, like the "Chic at Home" challenge by Colombian brand Azulu. Not that I really need a reason to dress up, because as they say: "Never underestimate the power of a good outfit on a bad day".

So in case you're wondering if I walk around the house in sweatpants… I'm not. And I can't really understand why someone would wear sweatpants all the time (it depresses me)... but hey, whatever makes you feel good. Hang in there everybody!

The Women of Pitti Uomo

Pitti Uomo is all about the boys, but since a couple of years more and more women are coming to Florence for the biggest menswear trade show in the world. And just like all the male visitors, the women dress up to stand out. From Italian bombshells to African queens, from Japanese Lolitas to Scandinavian glamazons... they're all there.

One of my favourites is the "Black Pinup", a lady dressed in forties and fifties style, shown here twice with her partner in crime. (You'll find her on instagram https://www.instagram.com/theblackpinup). I'm also a big fan of all the ladies sporting sharp tailored suits, borrowed from the boys!

Pitti Uomo is a streetstyle photographer's dream... I really don't know any other place in the world that is so oozing style like Florence in january and june! To read more about Pitti Uomo, please continue here: https://tarasdolcevita.blogspot.nl/2013/06/menswear-as-good-as-it-gets.html

Borsalino Fall Winter 2016-17

You guys know I'm a big fan of Borsalino hats. As a hat lover I do think Borsalino makes the Rolls Royce among hats! Just like men's watches, I usually like men's hats better than the women's collections. In fact, I totally fell in love with these gorgeous men's hats for fall /winter 2016-2017.

The colours are so rich...
The ribbons are so chic...
Especially that first fedora, with the large brim in rich blue... wow!
(In case you're interested... it's product code: 212993)

Eudia Fall/Winter Collection 2016-17

Eudia, the Dutch hat brand by milliner Evelien Gentis-Smit, is not only very tempting for women... but also for men! I love the men's hats that Evelien designed for fall/winter 2016-2017! They're traditional but also very cool. The same can be said about the (advertising) campaign that features her brother-in-law as a model. Oh.. and her husband Philip Gentis is the photographer. Talking about a family business!

Catch of the Day... Red Hat

My Catch of the Day is a beautiful red hat, or actually... it's not just red, it's "bordeaux" with a black and white houndstooth embellishment. Perfect for Fall/Winter, don't you think?
My motto: new season, new hat!
The hat is handmade by Dutch brand Eudia.

In Between Seasons

Although I love the end of summer (everybody seems to enjoy the sun, the beautiful weather and the beach a lot more when it’s the end of season), I hate that I never know what to wear… one day it’s cold, the next it’s warm again… chilly in the morning, early dark at night…

As a fashion addict I always look forward to the new pre-fall, fall and winter collections, so in a way I can’t wait to put those warmer clothes on again. On the other hand… I don’t want to stow away my summer staples just yet. The result? A mix of summer and winter accessories! A Panama hat combined with a turtleneck, a pair of summer sandals with a felt fedora…

Hat by Borsalino.
Sunglasses by Ray-Ban.
Ring by Vaçide Erda Zimic.
Sweater by Zara.
Sandals by Canfora.
Peruvian bag bought at a market.

Ready for the new wedding season?

Saturday I went to an event organized by Eudia hats and secondhand designer resale platform The Next Closet. They joined forces in a one-day-only pop-up boutique. It was a match made in heaven! In fact Eudia and The Next Closet showed all their goodies for the new wedding season.... dresses, skirts, bags (by Chanel and Charlotte Olympia), high heels and of course lovely handmade hats. I fell in love with a tuxedo jacket by Karl Lagerfeld and a pair of intoxicating green sandals by Dolce & Gabbana... but unfortunately they were not my size. So ladies, make a run for it!
