Keukenhof... the 8th Wonder of the World!
Have you ever seen 800 varieties of tulips together? Or 7 million bulbs in bloom... all in one place? I know, it sounds incredible... but the place to witness this miracle, is the Keukenhof in the Netherlands. Keukenhof is the biggest spring garden in the world, covering 32 hectares of flowers! From tulips to daffodils, from lilies to hyacinths... they can all be found at Keukenhof.
For many people it's a once-in-a-lifetime experience, probably just like visiting Machu Picchu in Peru or the Pyramids in Egypt. I have already been there several times... but it's still mindblowing! And in my opinion, Keukenhof is the eighth (new) Wonder of the World.
Since the gardens are so big, you should definitely put on your walking shoes. Oh... and even though it's spring, the weather in the Netherlands is pretty unpredictable, so a warm sweater and a raincoat are a must as well. Last but not least... bring your photo camera or cell phone to take millions of pictures. You will have amazing instagram material for years to come!
Keukenhof is located close to Amsterdam and can easily be reached by public transport. You simply take the Arriva Keukenhof Express from for example, the centre of Amsterdam, or from Schiphol airport. This brings you directly to the main entrance of the parc within half an hour (https://keukenhof.nl/en/plan-your-visit/how-to-get-there-copy/).
You can also take a taxi of course, but make sure you only get a licensed one (for more information about taxis in Amsterdam: http://www.iamsterdam.com/en/visiting/plan-your-trip/getting-around/taxis).
In 2017 Keukenhof is open from 23 March untill 21 May 2017.
