Osteria da Mamma Angela, Orvieto

The town of Orvieto is filled with good restaurants, but one of my favorites is Osteria da Mamma Angela. Located in Piazza del Popolo, it has a small terrace and several cozy rooms. In fact I always feel like I'm having lunch or dinner at a friend's house. The interior decorating is very cute with red checkered tablecloths, whitewashed furniture, photos of famous guests and funny quote signs on the walls.

Osteria da Mamma Angela opened in 2015 and has been a big hit ever since, among locals and tourists alike. The cuisine is typical Umbrian, with dishes like Umbrichelli al pistacchio e speck (pasta with pistachio nuts and cured, smoked ham), tagliatelle al tartufo (pasta with truffels), various types of bruschetta (toasted bread with toppings), rustic soups with lentils, beans, chickpeas and chestnuts,  tagliata di manzo (sliced, high-quality beef), pork skewers and more. My friends always take the signature dish... "baffo" all'Orvietana (cured pork cheek, sautéed with sage and white wine vinegar).... and they go crazy for it!

However, Osteria da Mamma Angela is not only a perfect spot for meat lovers, it's also vegetarian friendly. Mamma Angela serves pasta al pomodoro (pasta with tomato sauce), ravioli with ricotta cheese and spinach, Caprese salad and delicious vegetable soups. Oh and don't forget the mouthwatering desserts such as tiramisu and cheesecake! Make sure you make a reservation in advance, especially during peak seasons like Umbria Jazz Winter.

Fall wreaths

Fall is here and so are fall wreaths! I love walking around town and spotting all those beautiful fall decorations. While a wreath might be more common for Christmas or Easter, I really like the more "laid-back" looking wreaths that you'll find in autumn. Although the last couple of years I have also seen some pretty wild Halloween and Dia de Muertos wreaths! The Dia de Muertos wreath shown here was made by garden centre De Bosrand in Wassenaar.

I Looove... Blue & White

I absolutely looove the combination blue and white! Especially in summer it's one of my favourite fashion color combos. Whether it's a nautical outfit (with a striped top), or a blue and white flower print... casual or all dressed up... summer or winter... a dress or a jeans, you can't go wrong with blue and white.

A Borsalino hat and a Yam Capri bag make my outfit complete!

Capri & Ischia

This summer I visited Capri and Ischia, the Italian islands before the coast of Naples. I have been to both islands before. They are similar but also very different! While Capri is mainly car-free, very picturesque, chic and home to the rich and famous, Ischia is bigger, less expensive and has a more diverse landscape.

In Ischia there are several towns: Ischia Ponte, Ischia Porto, Lacco Ameno, Casamicciola, Forio, Serrara Fontana, Barano and Sant'Angelo. I absolutely love arriving in the natural harbour of Ischia Porto! Having lunch or dinner on the "Riva Destra", watching the sailboats and (sometimes very impressive) yachts is simply amazing! The same goes for the view from the Aragonese Castle... it takes your breath away.

Another gem is Sant'Angelo. This car-free town is nicknamed "Little Capri". And I can totally see why. It has the same vibe as Capri, with beautiful people, fancy restaurants and cute little shops (well maybe not Chanel and Gucci). Il Pellicano and Le Signorine Sant'Angelo are a few of my favorites. For cocktails and appetizers head over to Il Pirata, for dinner go to restaurant Dal Pescatore!

In Lacco Ameno you'll find the luxurious hotel Albergo Della Regina Isabella. The view from the dining room, overlooking the pool and the sea is spectacular! The food and the service are also exquisite. While I was there, the Ischia Jazz festival took place... lucky me. I will definitely go back to Ischia and Capri one day!
Ps. Next on my wishlist is the Mezzatorre Hotel in Forio.
