Wine Bar Vyne, Amsterdam, The Netherlands

Picture this: you've been standing in line for 2 hours to get into Anne Frank's House… You're fed up with all the other tourists… since you are a traveler, not one of them… and instead of having a latte in the museum bar…you'd rather have a good glass of wine, mingling with the locals.

Well, then I will let you in on a little secret: Vyne is the place for you. This totally cool winebar is located right in Amsterdam's city centre, close to… yes you got it, Anne Frank's, but also to the famous "Negen Straatjes" or nine streets and to the bohemian area called Jordaan.

The wine bar belongs to a 'chain' of fancy bars and restaurants (Supperclub, Nomads, Envy, Nevy) and was designed by Dutch architects firm Concrete. You can easily recognize their signature. Raw, pure materials, yet creating a cosy atmosphere.

Vyne is divided into two parts, on the right-hand side, you'll find the Old World (France, Italy, Spain): oak floor, walls and ceiling and a long brown leather couch (referring to the typical dutch 'brown café'). On the left-hand side the New World (Chile, South Africa, Australia) with an entire wall of stainless steel parts completely full of wine bottles, serving - as they say - as a wine library.

Vyne is specialized in creating exciting, out of the ordinary wine-food combinations. Probably one of the reasons why Vyne was chosen by magazine Perswijn as Dutch Wine Bar of the Year 2010.

If the delicious fingerfood was not enough… then continue by eating at neighbour (and "big sister") Envy. By the way, the name Vyne, in the form of an anagram, is a playful reminder of Envy. But you knew that already, didn't you?

There are not many places that I will dedicate two articles to... but Schmuggler Alm in Samnaun, Switzerland is one of them!

This is such a nice bar and restaurant, with a kind, fast and funny staff, beautiful interior, with an eye for detail, lots of entertainment, good food, a nice tax-free store (think perfumes, cigars, Swiss chocolate, etc.)... whenever you have the chance...

Dutch flower girls

The classical Dutch 'flower girl' really needed a makeover....
and this is the result! I love the cute 'Delft blue' pattern of their dresses!

These girls handed out flowers to shoppers at the Denneweg in The Hague, The Netherlands. It's one of the nicest shopping areas in town, with some antique stores, various clothing stores, the best shoe store ever (Paul Warmer), restaurants, bars and.... a nice crowd.

S/S '11 collection by Charlotte Sparre

The Danish designer Charlotte Sparre started her career by designing scarves. Now she is known for her  “quirky, printed silk dresses" as she says herself..... and doing a really good job while at it!

Charlotte Sparre's dresses are not meant for the dull or faint-hearted! Using bright colours and skull prints... will definitely make the fashionista who wears them stand out in a crowd.

Personally I would style them differently though (without the scarves), with for example out-of-bed hair and with pink gold jewelry and high heels. Either way, these dresses are fabulous!
