Pink gold....is hot now!

After many years of silver and a couple of seasons of gold bijoux,
this summer it's time for rose or pink gold!
It won't be hard to find a great signature piece, because many jewelry brands now have pink gold pieces in their collection, like Michael Kors and Gas (featured below).

People....in the fashion industry

Now take a look at these fashion bloggers that I met at the Amsterdam International Fashion Week. Their style is unique! Standing out in the crowd is not easy when you're surrounded by fashionistas.

At fashion shows you always see a lot of black "uniforms" with glasses and all. Which on some (charismatic) people might work really well; others risk looking plain boring.
These bloggers however dared to walk a different road.

Blue still going strong

Blue continues to be a strong colour for the the spring/summer collections. It's vibrant, stands out, is memorable and fresh.....even though it was already dominating the Autumn/Winter collections!
This is a trend that carries you from the cold, cold winter right into spring.

This spring, designers take their ispiration from Yves Saint Laurent's electric blue (think Rive Gauche) to the beautiful cobalt blue that can be found in Renaissance paintings.

Did you know that blue only became a popular and positive colour in the Middle Ages? In ancient Greece and Rome it was considered a negative hue. This is because in Greek mythology the god Zeus would make rain when he was sad and therefore blue became related to rain and sadness. Furthermore, blue was associated with the blue eyes of their enemies, the uncivilized Barbarians.

But come Christianity, blue became the colour of the virgin Mary, shown here on a fresco in Florence, Italy.
From then on, it symbolized serenity and tranquility.

Now ladies (and gentlemen), I don't know if that's the state of mind that you want to radiate, but I'm sure you'll be looking "très chic" if you do decide to wear it. I'm already provided for.....with this gorgeous dress by Antik Batik!

Pucci & Pitti

Oh so happy.... I just bought another t-shirt by Graciela Avendano for Pitti Vintage!!! Graciela Avendano's new Maya collection is combining vintage Emilio Pucci fabrics with brand new t-shirts.
Since they're all handmade, using Pucci fabrics from the seventies, no two items are the same. So if you're at a party, you'll never find another person wearing the same outfit!

Graciela's inspiration is dog Maya, her black pug, who is just as cute in real life, as on the t-shirts! But for other dog lovers there are now garments featuring french bulldogs as well.

For more information and the webshop please visit: http://www.pittivintage.com/

You can also visit my earlier blog on Graciela's Maya collection: http://tarasdolcevita.blogspot.com/2010/12/gracielas-pug-collectionfor-pitti.html

Must Have photography book.... "Antik Batik Peru"

Founder and designer of Antik Batik, Gabriella Cortese and photoghrapher Thierry Le Gouès traveled to Peru, to capture the Autumn-Winter 2010/2011 collection.

They chose a beautiful, but also very contrasting scenery: the mountains of Cuzco and the rivers of Lake Titicaca.
Rich and elaborated clothes.... in a poor, rural setting.

This resulted not only in stunning fashion photography, but also in an emotional coverage of the living conditions of the Peruvian people.

Profits from the sale of the book and prints from the exhibition (which took place during French fashion week, 28/09 to 07/10) will go to the inhabitants of villages damaged by the floods of January 2010. The association who is going to manage those profits is Plan International.

For more information, please contact Géraldine de la Brosse of Antik Batik. Tel. +33 (0)6 14 41 75 57

Ristorante Angels, Florence, Italy

Angels Bar & Restaurant is a beautiful, trendy location in the heart of Florence. Modern, yet in historical surroundings (think frescoed ceilings and arches).

It's a great place to have a pre-dinner drink, or as the italians call it, an "aperitivo". Expect a fancy crowd, some tourists, good cocktails & finger food to match.

The restaurant is very elegant... perfect for a date, as well as a business dinner. And if your date is one to keep... then ask for the private dining room in the back!

Ristorante Angels serves typical Florentine and italian dishes like "bruschetta", "ravioli di pecorino e pere in salsa bianca di tartufo e noci" and "bistecca alla Fiorentina". They also have an extended wine list.

For special occasions like Valentine's Day or Halloween, there are set menus (with pumpkin pie, turkey, etc.), for approximately €60.00 including a glass of champagne, water, wine and coffee.

For more information and reservations, please visit: http://www.ristoranteangels.it/
